Lock Quest: The Treehouse Trapdoor

The trapdoor is open!

The trapdoor swings down and a rope ladder unrolls. Up in the treehouse there is a telescope, a snack basket on a pulley, and room for your whole team.

You are now a Lock Master. Go tell your teacher!

Your mission

Builder Bear made a treehouse and locked the trapdoor five ways. A SIMPLE MACHINE makes work easier. A lever, a ramp, a wedge, a screw, a pulley, and a wheel and axle are all simple machines. They can change how hard you push, or which way things move. Bear left her plans, but not the instructions.

How to crack a lock

• Pick any lock from the menu at the top. You can solve them in any order.
• Read every clue before you start. One clue alone is never enough.
• Use scratch paper. Draw pictures, make lists, and cross things out.
• Tap the buttons to build your answer. Then press "Try the lock".
• A lock will not tell you which part is wrong, so be sure before you try.
