Lock Quest: The Toy Train Depot

The depot is open!

The big doors slide apart and a dozen toy trains chug out, whistles blowing. Pip punches a ticket for every member of your team. "All aboard!"

You are now a Lock Master. Go tell your teacher!

Your mission

Pip the chick is the conductor at the toy train depot, and the depot door is locked five ways. A FACTOR of a number divides into it evenly. The factors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 12. A MULTIPLE is what you get when you count by a number. The multiples of 3 are 3, 6, 9, 12, and so on. Pip left clues all over the depot, but no instructions. Look closely and work together.

How to crack a lock

• Pick any lock from the menu at the top. You can solve them in any order.
• Read every clue before you start. One clue alone is never enough.
• Use scratch paper. Draw pictures, make lists, and cross things out.
• Tap the buttons to build your answer. Then press "Try the lock".
• A lock will not tell you which part is wrong, so be sure before you try.
