TINY FOOTPRINT

🏑 The Sustainable Housing Studio

Your mission, Junior Architect

The town of Greenvale is building a new eco-neighborhood called Clover Lane. Big houses use lots of wood, lots of energy and lots of money. The town wants something smarter: tiny houses that are kind to the planet and kind to the wallet.

Your job is to learn why a tiny house works, design one on a grid, do the math that real architects do, and then build a paper model you can hold in your hands.

What you need

  • A Builder's Sheet (your teacher has these) for your stop codes and your math
  • Stops 1 to 6: just this Chromebook
  • Stops 7 to 9: 2 sheets of centimeter grid paper, 1 index card, scissors, a glue stick, crayons or colored pencils

Each stop gives you a stop code when you finish. Write it down! It unlocks the next stop if this computer forgets you.

Teachers: print and copy these sheets for the unit. Open shows the PDF in a new tab so you can print it. Download saves it to your computer.

Printing the grid paper? Set the print size to Actual size (or 100%), not "Fit to page", so every square is exactly 1 centimeter.

Lost your progress? Type the last stop code you wrote down:
