The rules
- Each round, one student is the judge. Judges take turns.
- The judge's card shows a describing word, like Spooky or Majestic.
- Everyone else plays the card from their hand that fits the word best. Funny and clever fits count too!
- The cards flip over. Nobody knows who played what.
- The judge picks the card that is spot on. That player gets a point and keeps the word.

Good to know
- Stuck with a hand that fits nothing? Press Swap my hand once per game for six new cards.
- There is no wrong card. A funny or clever fit can win if you can explain it.
- Judges, pick the card you like best, not your best friend's card. Nobody can see who played what until you pick.
Start a game room
Show this page on the board. You will get a room code for students to type in.
How it runs
- Students open this page, click Play, and type the room code and their real first name.
- You pick the word level, how the game ends, and the time to play a card. Then press Start.
- The judge rotates in the order students joined. Each student holds six thing cards.
- The board shows the word, the face down cards, the flip, and the judge's pick.
- At the end, the top three land on the winners platform with the words they won.
Teacher note
- Players: you need at least 3 students: one judge and two players. It works best with 4 to 10. Up to 40 can join.
- Word levels: Starter words (90 words for younger students, like Sticky and Brave), GATE words (90 richer words, like Ominous and Meticulous), or a mix. Every word shows a short meaning, so the game doubles as vocabulary practice.
- Thing cards: 320 kid friendly cards, about one in five silly on purpose. No potty humor.
- The judge: the judge picks on their own Chromebook. If a judge is away or stuck, press Pick for the judge and click a card on the board.
- Slow players: each round has a timer for playing a card. When it runs out, the cards that are in get revealed. You can also press Reveal now. To play without a timer, choose No timer.
- A word nobody can use: press New word. Any cards already played go back to their hands.
- Late arrivals: a student who joins during a round gets cards at the start of the next round.
- Swap: each student can trade in their whole hand once per game.
- A tip from my room: before the judge picks, let each player make a ten second case for their card without saying it is theirs. The judge has to explain the pick in one sentence using the word.
- Rooms: a room closes by itself after four quiet hours. Many classes can play at the same time, and every room has its own code.
