🏝️ What's a scranimal?

Take an animal. Take a plant or a food. Now scramble them into one word and one creature. A rhinoceros and a rose? A broccoli and a lion? That's the idea behind Jack Prelutsky's book Scranimals (illustrated by Peter Sís), where a whole island is full of these mixed-up beasts, each with its own silly rhyming poem.

We can't print the book's poems here (they belong to the author!), so this studio does something better: you invent the scranimals. Ask Mr. Lehmkuhl if you'd like to read the real book.

🎯 Your mission: blend a word, draw a creature, collect rhymes, write a poem, and put it all on a Field Guide card. Earn 4 badges to unlock the Field Guide.

📖 An example (written for this page, so it's ours to share)

Notice the pattern: lines 1 and 2 rhyme, lines 3 and 4 rhyme (AABB). The poem tells you what the creature looks like, what it does, and ends with a joke.
