Citizen

Who is allowed to run for president? And who is your candidate?

Take a guess

Before we learn anything, make a guess. How old do you have to be to run for president?

Game: Who Can Run?

You are the gatekeeper at the sign-up desk. Eight people want to run for president. The Constitution has three rules:

At least 35 years old
Born a U.S. citizen
Lived in the USA 14 years

Look at each person's card carefully. Pick Can run or the rule they break. You only get one answer per person, so think before you tap.

Watch the tape

Tape 1 reviews everything from this stop. Sit back. The tape plays on its own.

Press Play to start the tape.

Card pack unlocked

Tap each card to flip it over. These three are now in your collection on the Road Map.

Create your candidate

This citizen will walk the whole road to the White House. Choose carefully, because the choices stick.

1. Pick a look

2. Pick a name

3. Pick a home state

4. Pick a party

Both parties are made up just for this game, with made-up colors. Neither one is a real party. Whichever you pick, the whole road works exactly the same way.

Green Herons
Patient and careful. "Measure twice, build once."
Purple Foxes
Quick and bold. "Try it today, fix it tomorrow."

5. Pick three things you promise to work on (0 of 3)

Stop 1 complete!

Write down your save code. It brings your candidate and your progress back if your computer gets reset.

Next stop: Announcing. Time to tell the whole country you are running.
