How it runs
- Teams of 3 or 4 share one Chromebook. The game tells them to pass the mouse after every puzzle so everyone gets a turn to drive.
- Plan on 60 to 75 minutes (it can be split over two class periods with progress codes). Students explore 10 places in Sunrise Stadium, help 9 crew members, and collect 9 clues for the Medal Vault (Director Imani gives a 10th at the start). The finale is a logic puzzle: the vault code is the finish order of the Champion Race, so teams use the clues to rank five runners from 1st to 5th.
- The stadium opens up as they go: Hana's Gate Pass opens the Event Halls, Ivy's Elevator Token opens the Top Deck, and Wes turns the power back on for the vault code panel.
- Skills: comparing and subtracting decimals (race times), meters and centimeters on a measuring tape (long jump), reading a medal table with a tie break rule, lines of symmetry (flags), multiplication and division word problems (pool lengths), adding decimals and finding the highest and lowest (gymnastics judges), adding scores and even numbers (archery), arrays and finding a seat in a grid (grandstand), and elapsed time and reading a clock (schedule).
- The finale: each runner card shows a name, a shirt color and a number, and the clues mix all three, so teams have to connect them. The Race Notes grid (runners by places) lets them mark ✖ and ✔. Exactly one order fits all the clues. A wrong order makes the vault buzz, tells the team which clue their order breaks, and waits 20, then 40, then 60 seconds before the next try, so checking clues beats guessing.
- Wrong answers on the other puzzles lock that puzzle for a short wait (15 seconds, then 30, 45, 60). Hints: 3 per puzzle (the vault has 3 too), one every 45 seconds.
- Bonus: 11 gold stars are hidden in the rooms. The count prints on the award.
- Progress codes: after every puzzle the team gets a 10 letter code (like
KDHTM-7XQMP), also shown on the side. Have one student write the newest code on paper. If a browser resets or the team switches Chromebooks, they type it on the start screen and get back their team name, every solved puzzle (in any order), open areas, items, hints and time. Made-up codes do not work, and codes from the other escape rooms do not work here. - The "Left this page" counter on the side goes up every time someone switches to another tab or window. It does not stop the game. A high number can mean someone went looking for answers, for example by taking a screenshot to an AI helper, so it is worth a quick check in.
- Everything in this room (the stadium, the teams, the flags, the runners and the story) is made up, so it is safe to share. The facts on the clickable spots are real.
Timer
Minutes until the opening ceremony: (teams can keep playing in overtime; the award says "Solved in overtime")
Answers
- Finish Line, Priya: Lane 3 (11.9) 1st, Lane 2 (12.06) 2nd, Lane 4 (12.15) 3rd, Lane 1 (12.6) 4th. The winner was 0.7 seconds faster than Lane 1. A time of 12.1 fits between Lane 2 and Lane 4.
- Long Jump Pit, Gus: A jumped 340 centimeters, B jumped 4 m 10 cm, B went 20 centimeters farther than C (410 and 390), and only B went past 4 meters.
- Medal Stand, Hana: most medals in all: Waves (13). Ranked 1st: Rockets (5 gold). Ranked 2nd: Tigers (4 gold, 3 silver beats the Falcons' 4 gold, 2 silver). Gold medals in all: 18. Gives the Gate Pass.
- Flag Plaza, Omar: 1 (purple, gold, teal stripes lying across) Down only. 2 (pink, white, pink standing stripes) Both. 3 (slanted split) Neither. 4 (gold circle near the pole) Across only. 5 (gold circle in the middle) Both. 6 (stripes with a star in the corner) Neither. 7 (blue, gold, green standing stripes) Across only. 8 (purple triangle in the middle) Down only.
- Swim Center, Lucy: 150 meters, 4 lengths, 160 seconds, 2 more lengths.
- Gym Hall, Ivy: Mia: cross out 9.6 and 8.5, total 26.6. Zane: cross out 9.3 and 8.4, total 27.1. Zane wins. Gives the Elevator Token.
- Archery Range, Felix: orange 22 (10 + 6 + 6), green 20 (8 + 8 + 4), smallest ring to win is 4, and No, because every ring is even, so three arrows always add to an even number.
- Grandstand, Nora: 54 seats, 9 seats per row, 162 seats, and the ticket seat is Row 4, Seat 7 (4th row up from the front, 7th seat from the left).
- Clock Tower, Wes: 45 minutes, 10 minutes, 12:35, and the clock shows 2:40. Turns on the vault code panel.
- Medal Vault: 1st Lena (purple, 30), 2nd Hugo (red, 4), 3rd Amara (green, 8), 4th Carmen (orange, 21), 5th Ben (blue, 15). The vault code is 30, 4, 8, 21, 15. One way to solve it: Ben is first or last, but he finished after Amara, so Ben is 5th. Hugo won a medal but not gold, so he is 2nd or 3rd, and Lena finished just before him. If Hugo were 3rd, Lena would be 2nd and Amara 1st (Carmen is after Amara), but then Lena and Amara would be next to each other. So Hugo is 2nd and Lena 1st, then Amara 3rd and Carmen 4th.
