Lock Quest: The Desert Dam

The control room is open!

The door opens onto a wall of dials and one big window. Far below, the river pours through the dam, and the lights of Las Vegas begin to twinkle on.

Your mission

Clover the bunny is touring Hoover Dam, and the control room is locked five ways. Las Vegas is in a desert, where only a few inches of rain fall in a whole year. So where does the water come from? Almost all of it comes from the Colorado River. Hoover Dam holds the river back to make Lake Mead, and pipes carry the water to the city. In a desert, people have to share water carefully and never waste it.

How to crack a lock

• Pick any lock from the menu at the top. You can solve them in any order.
• Read every clue before you start. One clue alone is never enough.
• Use scratch paper. Draw pictures, make lists, and cross things out.
• Tap the buttons to build your answer. Then press "Try the lock".
• A lock will not tell you which part is wrong, so be sure before you try.
