How to play Contig
Contig is a classic math strategy game. The name comes from "contiguous," which means touching or next to each other. That's the secret to scoring big!
1Roll three dice. Say you roll 2, 3, 5
2Use ALL THREE numbers and any TWO operations (+ − × ÷) to make a number on the board. You can use the same operation twice, and parentheses tell you what to do first.
2 + 3 + 5 = 10 (2 + 3) × 5 = 25 5 × 3 − 2 = 13 (5 − 3) × 2 = 4
2 + 3 + 5 = 10 (2 + 3) × 5 = 25 5 × 3 − 2 = 13 (5 − 3) × 2 = 4
3Cover that number with your chip. Each number can only be covered once.
4Score points: you get 1 point, PLUS 1 more point for every covered square touching yours: up, down, left, right, or diagonal. Cover a number surrounded by chips for a huge score!
5Can't make a number? You pass. If you pass 3 turns in a row, you're out. The game ends when the board fills up or everyone is out. Highest score wins!
Strategy tip: Try to cover numbers NEXT to covered numbers. Big numbers like 216 are hard to make (only 6 × 6 × 6!), so the squares around them can be valuable.
Rules for division: the answer at each step must be a whole number.
