Tap the glowing piece to start. Each piece has a practice and a mini game.
You won all six mini games. Now you know how every chess piece moves.
You are ready for the real game. In a full game, all 32 pieces start on the board together, like this:
In a real chess set, the pieces are white and black instead of blue and red. White always moves first.
A few new rules are waiting for you in the full game:
When a king can be captured on the next move, it is in check. That player must save their king right away.
You never really capture the king. You win by trapping him so he can't escape. That is called checkmate!
When a pawn reaches the other side, it turns into a queen or another piece you choose.
One time per game, your king and a rook can make a special move together to tuck the king somewhere safe.
