How to play
Start a game room
Show this page on the board. You will get a room code for students to type in.
How it runs
- Students open this page, click Play, and type the room code and their name.
- You pick the times tables and the minutes. Then press Start.
- Every student gets the same cards in the same order and works at their own pace.
- When time runs out, the top three land on the winners platform.
- You can put a student out, put a student back in, or end the round at any time.
Teacher note
- The deck: the deck is long enough that nobody can run out before the clock does. Cards come from the tables you pick, each one times 1 through 12, shuffled. Every card comes up once before any card repeats. The order of the two numbers is mixed, so students see both 7 × 8 and 8 × 7.
- One try: a wrong answer shows the right answer for a moment, then the next card comes. This stops fast guessing and gives a quick review.
- Send to the end: each student can move a card to the end of the deck 3 times per round. The deck is long, so in practice that card will not come back.
- Winning: most correct wins. Ties go to the student with fewer misses, then to the one who finished first.
- Tab rule: a student who opens a new tab, switches tabs, or clicks outside the game is out. A calculator is one tab away, so this matters. If it happens by accident, press Put back in next to their name. A student who stays out keeps their score but is placed after everyone who stayed in. Turn the rule off in the lobby when you test alone with two windows.
- The board: by default the board shows the clock and one class total, not each student's score. You can turn on a live scoreboard in the lobby.
- Rooms: a room closes by itself after four quiet hours. Up to 40 students can join one room.
